Donate Eggs for Money

Compare egg donor compensation, expenses, payment milestones, cancellation terms, and medical commitments.

Egg donor compensation should be understood alongside the medical process and the written agreement. Donation can include screening, prescribed medication, monitoring, retrieval, and recovery. A large advertised amount does not establish eligibility or tell you how expenses and canceled cycles are handled.

Understand the payment model

ASRM's ethics guidance treats compensation as recognition of time, inconvenience, and discomfort, rather than a reward based on egg number or quality. Programs describe payment differently. Ask whether the quote covers a completed cycle, treatment milestones, and travel or lost wages already included in the amount.

Compare the complete commitment

Create a calendar for screening, treatment, transport, and recovery. Ask about appointment flexibility and support after retrieval. Then list expenses, receipt requirements, advance approvals, and reimbursement timing. The most useful comparison considers the written terms and your likely costs, not just the headline figure.

Review cancellation and aftercare

Clarify compensation at each stage if treatment is stopped or changed. Ask who arranges and pays for medical evaluation if a complication develops. Donor wellbeing should not depend on completing a cycle because the consequences of cancellation were never explained.

Keep records and check jurisdiction

Retain agreements, payment statements, and expense records. Ask a qualified tax professional about reporting in your circumstances. Payment rules differ by country; a US program's published compensation should not be applied automatically to a UK or cross-border arrangement.
